TY - JOUR JO - Mining Science SN - 2300-9586 VL - 132 IS - 39 PY - 2011 ID - Ostręga2011 TI - The reclamation concept and target redevelopment of the "Kujawy" limestone mine AB - The reclamation concept and target development of the largest Polish “Kujawy” Limestone Mine was presented in the article. An extensive analysis both of the area occupied by the mining activity (geological-mining and the hydrological conditions), as well as its surroundings (spatial, environmental and socio-economical conditions) were the basis of the concept study. The cultural aspect of the Mine, namely the 150 year old history of extraction, as well as its surroundings – the existing monuments with supraregional importance, which are not without meaning for the reclamation and redevelopment concept have been emphasized. In the article, attention was paid to the fact that in spite of the long-term extraction perspective, the earlier designing of the reclamation and the target vision of the post-mining areas redevelopment is necessary. The scope of the mining works in the final stage of extraction and reclamation works should be conducted in way to facilitate the redevelopment of the reclaimed area according to target vision reflecting the technical and environmental conditions as well as socio-economic needs of the region.
