It was shown that radon threat and an increase in carbon dioxide content as well as oxygen content depletion may occur in excavations in the case of airing discontinuation. Therefore, the safe residence time in adits with increased CO2 concentrations has been determined assuming total discontinuation of airing, and also the minimum ventilation air velocity, at which the state of the atmosphere in adits will comply with the mining regulations both in terms of composition, and radiology has been calculated. It was determined that natural aeration intensity will be sufficient to eliminate gas and radiological threats in 8 months per year. In the Spring months (April-May) and in Autumn (September-October) there may be days in which the intensity of natural aeration is too small. To ensure the appropriate airing intensity in these periods it was proposed to install an axial-flow fan in a small shaft.
